Lots has the set idea that they have a soulmate, that there are ONLY one x one relationships and nothing else. I remember being in an exclusive polyamoric situation for a little over a year, and even though it didn't turn out that way it certainly was a way to narrow down my choices and figure out what is best for me and what isn't. I am not saying ALL situations are like this, and some people never end up with just one person. I think that it is a lifestyle that has been thrashed out by media, and religion, and SHOULDN'T be. There is nothing wrong with multiple partners, or different kinds of lovelives. It is not technically infidelity if everyone knows about each other and everyone is alright with the concept. Little by little, people are becoming more and more open to the concept, though.

oh, because straight ppl are any better? i have nothing against either side, heck, i'm bi myself. just wanna make a point here- 80% of ppl are dating someone who arent technically legal.

and having a three way/ open relationship isn't completely accepted for any orientations. it's a whole another issue. (im for.)
